What’s Hot in RVC? The Pig and Queen, That’s What!
by Thea Ferzola
The Pig and Queen Restaurant on Sunrise Highway is my new “Go to” spot for succulent Bbq in Rockville Centre. The restaurant occupies the generous corner space that was once inhabited by Halal Shish Kabob. A slick and creative renovation has given the once “tired” decor a brand new atmosphere of warmth that lends itself to sipping whiskey cocktails and dining elbow deep into delicious St Louis Ribs!
The night we went, I had the crispy and juicy fried chicken with garlic mashed. I decided to omit the biscuits at the last minute and the server was very gracious with my change in order. Also, the bartender, Frank, deserves a mention because he was hospitable and knowledgable to the point of sharing his secret that there is such a thing as a 68 calorie light beer! Thanks Michelob and Frank! My love had the blackened catfish over a bed of crisp kale. He claims it to be the best he has EVER had and we both swooned over the blackened, roasted cauliflower with garlic and the creamy mac and cheese with just the right hint of truffle oil. We did not venture to the dessert menu but we will definitely peruse it the next time we are there. The Pig and Queen will most definitely be a “go to” spot for us, and I hope you and yours as well!
