Tips for Tipsters

Sometimes, we feel like this...

Sometimes, we feel like this…

We so happy that you’ve joined TipsFromTown. This is a place where you can share the things that you love about your town! Have fun, don’t stress and don’t over think it. Your posts don’t have to be clever or poetic! Our readers are just excited when someone shares the things that they love about their town. Our readers are just like you: smartbusy women who are trying to balance work, health, family, and fun. Below are a few tips for new Tipsters.

5 Tips for Tipsters:
1. Keep it short and sweet. People are busy–we’re busy–and don’t have time to read! 150-200 words is fine. Sometimes less will do the job like this one on where to find cheap Halloween candy.

...but we like this think of ourselves like this.

2. People want to know what you like.  Simply tell why you like something–your favorite farm stand, restaurant, favorite park or playground; where you like to walk; your favorite spot for coffee or takeout.

3. People love local.  Share something that’s happening in the schools like a fundraiser; high school play; a local boy scout;a student or teacher who won an award.Or news about construction or award your town won.

4. Use Numbers. Give 3 reasons you like this place (i.e. 1. I never have to wait for a table. 2. They have the best burgers in town. 3. My kids love it too.) Here’s an example:  3 Reasons I Love This Place for Ladies’ Night–feel free to use the same format.

5. Write what you know.  This should be fun–not stressful so don’t spend too much time trying to find the perfect story or trying to word it beautifully. Write what you know and about what’s going on around you. Our readers are just like you: busy women trying to balance family, work, kids and fun.

And we are always just a click or call away if you have questions!
