They Don’t Call It ‘Beauty Sleep’ For Nothing!
Unfortunately, I know all too well what I look like the morning after a night of too much chardonnay and not enough sleep- droopy, puffy eyes, limp hair, and dull skin… it’s not pretty. Sleep is a time to restore all our body systems. This is when the body is able to transform those dormant energy units into repairing our most essential organs, which includes cells in our skin. While you sleep, your skin renews itself. New skin cells grow and replace older cells. Your sleeping body is repairing, restoring and rebalancing. It’s also a time when all sorts of hormonal and metabolic changes happen inside the body, including your skin. A lack of sleep can disrupt those processes. Of course, you need good sleep for your whole body, not just your skin. Chronic sleep problems are linked to high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, and depression. That’s all the more reason to put down that wine glass, and get your sleep back on track. The good news? Our skin recovers quickly. Get a good night’s sleep tonight and you will notice a difference in the morning. Experts say a good 7-8 hours each night is ideal… Sweet Dreams!
