The Safest Cities in NJ

You might sleep a little more soundly after hearing this. According to CreditDonkey’s recent study on safety, Ridgewood is in the top 50 safest cities in NJ.  Only towns with a population of 10,000 or more were chosen. The study reviewed FBI Crime Report data for 2014 to determine number of violent crimes and property crime rates per 1,000 residents for each city.  Although Ridgewood came in at #45 out of 50, the difference in the crime rates in those top 50 is marginal. For instance, Chatham, the #4 spot, had 0 violent crimes per 1000 where as Ridgewood had .2 per 1000. Chatham had only 1 burglary per 1000 residents–about 9 a year total compared to Ridgewood with 1.7 per 1000 residents. Rest assured, you picked a great town to live in.
