You might sleep a little more soundly after hearing this. According to CreditDonkey’s recent study on safety, Mahwah is in the top 50 safest cities in NJ. In fact, Mahwah ranked #7! Only towns with a population of 10,000 or more were chosen. The study reviewed FBI Crime Report data for 2014 to determine number of violent crimes and property crime rates per 1,000 residents for each city. The difference in the crime rates in those top 50 is marginal. For instance, Chatham, the #4 spot, had .1 violent crimes per 1000 where as Mahwah had .3 per 1000.
