Take a Book, Leave a Book.
By Natalie Golub
Have you noticed the Little Free Library outside the house at 710 East Broad Street on the corner of Chestnut. The Little Free Library is an organization whose mission is to promote literacy and the love of reading by building free book exchanges worldwide and to build a sense of community as we share skills, creativity, and wisdom across generations.
The homeowners created this adorable little library for everyone to enjoy. Their Facebook page, Little Free Library 07090, states: “Take a book. Leave a book. Our goal is to encourage a love of reading for all ages. Feel free to take, leave or return books. No rules , just enjoy.”
For the month of September, this Little Free Library is working with the Westfield school district to provide books to local families who are in need. Simply leave new supplies in the bin on the porch. Donations will be accepted for all ages from kindergarten through college. Consider throwing a few extra items in your cart while you’re out shopping for school supplies. I know I will. And while you’re there, take a book or leave a book from the adorable library!
