Summit Wrestling Club To Host Annual Gala in Support of City Wide Programs
Did you know that the highly successful wrestling programs in Summit – including the youth, middle school and high school programs – are only partially funded? Where does the rest of the funding come from? The Summit Wrestling Club and other generous donors.
This Saturday, January 23, the Club is holding its annual gala to keep these vital programs funded.
“This is an important event for us because it is our biggest fundraiser. The Summit Wrestling Club financially supports wrestling teams at all levels in town.…. the Wrestling Club agreed to help underwrites costs and each year we need to raise over $20k to keep going” said board member Mike Cantone. “Our tireless efforts are producing results. There is steady growth of the sport.”
The Annual Gala on January 23rd at 7:00 PM at the Summit Elks Club will also honor the1990 Summit High School Wrestling Team on the 25th Anniversary of their achievements.
All are invited to attend! The night will feature live music, dancing and raffles as well as dinner catered by La Pastaria Restaurant of Summit. Phil Angelo, La Pastaria owner, has been a huge benefactor of the Summit Wrestling Club since its inception and his son, Phillip, serves as the current co-captain on the high school team.
