My Oscar Picks

I have tried to see all the movies up for Best Picture and I am only short one, Black Panther. (But I did hear that it was fantastic.) Here are my two cents on the Oscar picks;

Bohemian Rhapsody
Nominated for:
Best picture, actor, editing, sound editing, and sound mixing.
My two cents:
This should hands down win best picture but they are all loving Roma. It is based on the life of Freddie Mercury. If Rami Malek doesn’t win Best Actor than he was robbed! This movie is great for a date night or with older kids.

Roma
Nominated for:
Best picture, director, actress, supporting actress, original screenplay, foreign language film, cinematography, production design, sound editing, and sound mixing.
My two cents:
I didn’t love it. Very artistic, I get that part but not enough to win Best Picture. We nearly fell asleep during the first 45 minutes. The last half was better than the first half but my husband never wanted to waste the time to see the rest. That is not a movie that should win Best Picture.

BlacKkKlansman
Nominated for:
Best picture, supporting actor, director, adapted screenplay, editing, and original score.
My two cents:
This movie is based on a true story which was very interesting. I didn’t think they did a great job with the casting. It is worth seeing but not worthy of winning best picture.

The Favourite
Nominated for:
Best picture, lead actress, supporting actress, screenplay, film editing, directing, costume design, cinematography, and production design.
My two cents: Not my particular cup of tea but there is some great acting happening here. Olivia Colman who plays the Queen should win for Best Actress. You need a stiff drink after coming out of this movie:)

Green Book
Nominated for:
Best picture, original screenplay, leading actor, film editing.
My two cents: My second favorite movie behind Bohemian Rhapsody. This is also a true story and great for the whole family to watch. I haven’t met anyone who disliked it. Highly recommend seeing this before the Oscars. Mahershala Ali should win Best Supporting Actor.

The Wife
Nominated for:
Best actress
My two cents:
A fabulous movie. Everyone should see this as well. Glenn Close does a tremendous job with her role. It is hard to compare her to Olivia Colman in The Favourite because they are two very different roles but I would give it to Olivia over Glenn for Best Actress.

A Star Is Born
Nominated for:
Best picture, actor, actress, supporting actor, adapted screenplay, cinematography, original song, sound mixing
My two cents: I enjoyed this movie but I think it will only win Best Original Song. Gaga did a great job but it is tough to do what Olivia did in The Favourite.

Vice
Nominated for: Best comedy or musical, best actor and best supporting actress.
My two cents:
Christian Bale has once again done a fine acting job. He could definitely win for Best Actor. Definitely not Best Picture worthy.
