High Knees – Move of the Week
Another Cardio move to use in some of your Turkey Day Family Fun activities is High Knees. It’s exactly as it sounds. Standing tall, engage the abdominals and alternately lift your knees waist high. To keep this low impact (and easier on your joints) always maintain one foot on the ground while lifting the other. To make this more intense, take it up to a high knee jog but keep lifting your knees waist high. Don’t forget to breathe. Maintain this for 30-60 seconds. You can march or jog lightly on the spot to recover and repeat this 3-5X.
Harder: Increase the pace of your run; put your hands behind your head; hold your hands out at shoulder height; raise your arms straight overhead.
