Since the race itself is over in a flash–it’s just 2 minutes–have your guests play the Derby Hat Draw before the race starts.
Guest can either play for money (have guests each chip in say $5) or you can play for something fun like candy to make pool.
1. Put the names of the Derby horses for the race in a hat.
2. Have your guests draw the name of a horse from the hat.
3. Whoever chooses the winning horse wins the the pool.
