Feeling Stretched too Thin? Get Help.
As I sat up one evening cleaning out an overflowing inbox, one email stood out asking: “Feeling Overwhelmed? Need Some Extra Help?” “YES!!!,” I screamed out loud, “How did you know…and who are you?” The email came from QuadJobs, a company that connects local college students with people in need–like me–of an extra help. As I clicked to their site, I felt a wave a relief as I scrolled through to see all the ways QuadJobs could make my life easier! Quad connects college students with people who need help with everything for babysitting and tutoring to yard work, spring cleaning and dog-walking. Name a task, and they probably have someone to perform it for you. Quad students can even help you navigate the web!
I posted my job easily–it only cost $7– and no strings attached. I also had the option to join QuadJobs for the year, and make an unlimited number of job posts, for just $35. (See a discount below)
As I browsed through my list of applicants, I saw smiling, friendly faces of accomplished local students many of whom were on the honor roll. It’s a genius idea. These are hard-working college students out there who need to work but can’t always commit to a traditional 20 hour/ week part-time job. QuadJobs gives them the flexibility to choose jobs that work with their schedules.
QuadJobs was launched in October 2014–by, no surprise, 3 moms–who felt like they were spread too thin. Despite having great colleges nearby, they were surprised by how hard it was to reach students who might be looking for part-time work. So Betsy O’Reilly, Andra Newman and Bridie Loverro launched in Fairfield County, CT, where all 3 live with their families. QuadJobs quickly took off, and the team expanded to New York and New Jersey. From there, QuadJobs took off in Boston, Philadelphia and Chicago. QuadJobs is now a presence at 300+ schools, with more than 10,000 college and graduate students using the site. 94% of jobs posted receive at least two applicants within 24 hours.
