A New Twist on Sushi You’ve Gotta Try!

The hand-held sushi burrito roll.

What do you get when you mix Asian and Latin flavor combinations? A new twist on sushi. Inspiration Roll serves up hand-held sushi “burritos.” They delicately roll up sushi in a sheet of nori and rice–like a burrito but without the tortilla. You can even pick your own options and make a custom burrito of your own. It’s no wonder Inspiration Roll made it into NJ Monthly’s Top 30 Best New Restaurants. Two rolls that got my mouth watering were the Edison, with baked salmon, kimchee, pickled and friend onions and miso and the Einstein with pork katsu, purple cabbage, tam ago and teriyaki sauce.

They also specialize in handmade ramen noodle bowls created by Master Chef Kotani who has over 20 years of Ramen experience from New York to London. Their noodles are made from scratch daily without preservatives. The one that caught my eye: the Spicy Tonkotsu: thin noodles in a pork broth with soy, roast pork, boiled egg, scallions, bamboo shoots, kurage mushrooms, and dried seaweed. Everything on their menu is extremely reasonable. Their sushi burritos are only $12; ramen bowls are $10.
