8 Tips for Preventing Hair Breakage

Feeling like your hair is thinning or falling out? The cause might be breakage. Owner and Stylist Denise DeLuccia of Industrie Hair Gurus explained, “When you notice your hair thinning, It might not be hair loss; it could be hair breakage instead. Breakage caused by damage to the hair can look like hair loss.” She went on to explain what causes it and how you can prevent it.

4 Things That Might Be Causing Your Hair to Break
1. Over-shampooing.
2. Using brushes with broken or burned hairbrush bristles.
3. Chemical treatments.
4. Wearing hair accessories that are too tight.

Here’s the good news. There are things you can do to prevent breakage and keep your hair looking full and healthy.

Here are Denise’s Tips for Preventing Hair Breakage:
1. Try to only shampoo a few times a week.
2. Invest in a good quality hairbrush and brush gingerly.
3. Don’t use damaging hair ties or head bands. Use a damage-free band.
4. Treat yourself to a hair mask or deep conditioning at a salon.
5. Turn down the heat on your dryers, straighteners and curlers.
6. Use salon quality products designed to protect hair from heat.
7. Don’t wrap your hair in a big towel or dry to aggressively.
8. Maintain a schedule for haircuts.
