Protect Loved Ones from Fraud or Identity Theft.
SUMMIT SAFE SENIORS PROGRAM: “SCAM, FRAUD AND IDENTITY THEFT”
January 13 • 11:00AM – 12:00pm
Identity theft can make a huge impact–not just on your personal life–but on your credit card! Identity theft targeted on target senior citizens has been on the rise the last few years. A bill was introduced twice in Congress (in 2013 and 2015) to help protect seniors against identity fraud.
The AARP Foundation recently commissioned a survey that looked at behavioral differences between different ages of identity fraud victims. They found that the over 50 crowd took the bait in 6 out of 10 persuasion that led to identity theft.
Here’s your chance to educate yourself or loved ones. The Summit Police Department and the Summit Department of Community Programs (DCP) will present a city-wide Summit Safe Seniors event for senior citizens, family members, and caregivers to learn about how to protect yourself from scams, fraud, and identity theft. It even includes a lunch! RSVP to DCP @ 908-277-2932 if you plan to attend.
Summit Community Center, 100 Morris Avenue, Summit.
