Why You Can Feel Really Good About What You Eat
It is sort of a tradition to feel like crap after Thanksgiving. We all feel gluttonous after the holiday and think we have to kick the diet into high gear before the December holidays. I’m going to help you feel better, we have enough guilt in our lives.
Sweet Potatoes are a great source of vitamins A (beta-carotene), C, B12 and fiber.

Mushrooms are a great source of vitamin D and selenium (which helps your immune system.) They also contain anti-oxidants which are essential in the fight against cancer and heart disease.

Cranberries are great for your urinary tract (so is peeing after sex) and have been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects.

Green Leafy Vegetables are a wonderful source of iron, vitamins K and C, folic acid and fiber.
RECIPE: Creamed Spinach and Parsnips
Apples are great for heart health because they have cholesterol lowering properties, may be protective against Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s and I have heard, generally can keep the doctor way. They are also great for whiter teeth.
Onions are a good source of vitamins C and B6, iron and folate. They have immune boosting and anti-inflammatory properties.

Red Wine, I will continue to believe, is good for you. It contains resveratrol and antioxidants which are good for your heart. It also makes you feel like dancing, which cannot be a bad thing.
So … there you go. Stuff your face and feel great about it.* Maybe Thanksgiving dinner ain’t so bad after all.
*I would like to acknowledge I am aware you are probably cooking everything in butter, sugar and flour and you may be drinking more than a glass or two. For the purposes of loving life and enjoying the holidays, I am ignoring these facts and focusing on the positives on your plate and in your glass. Bon Appetit!
Happy Thanksgiving!
