The Westfield High School Girls’ Volleyball team is sponsoring its eighth annual Pink Out Volleyball Tournament against Scotch Plains on October 7th. Pink Out was set up to raise funds and promote public awareness for Brest Cancer Awareness Month in October.

Pink Out was started eight years ago as a tribute to the girls’ Varsity Coach Bev Torok. Torok told her team that she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She continued to work while she recuperated from surgery and many rounds of chemotherapy. Once her doctors declared her cancer-free, Torok enlisted the girls’ help to raise awareness for public awareness for breast cancer and raise funds to help others fight it.

Last year the event raised $42,000!

The Freshman game begins at 4 pm, the JV game at 5:30 pm, and the Varsity game at approximately 7pm. Join in on the fun in the serving contest where winners will receive prizes. There will be a refreshment stand, a tricky tray auction with baskets of great prizes.

Donations to this great cause can be made online at: https://secure.info-komen.org/site/Donation2;jsessionid=CD8C5567740E1917E1E359BDCB8CB8FF.app310b?19165.donation=landing&df_id=19165&mfc_pref=T

The event is open to the public and tickets can be purchased at the door. Anyone wearing pink will be admitted for free. All proceeds will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
