So You’ve Always Wanted to be a Guitar Hero
The New York City Guitar School has several locations, but I am familiar with the Midtown location in the Recording and Rehearsal Arts Building at 251 West 30th. They have lessons for any and all guitar abilities and genres, from Absolute Beginner to Lead Guitar Performer. You can be a part of a band or create your own; take group lessons or private; classical, rock, blues, jazz, Bass and Ukulele.
The School is geared towards adults but they do offer kids classes too. With a wide variety of class options and times to choose from, you can learn from a multitude of highly talented teachers and then go watch them perform at a local club, Broadway show or other venue. Designed for the busy New Yorker in mind, they will supply a guitar for your lessons during class and you can even rent one from them to practice. Convenient to take a quick lesson on your lunch break or after work or as part of a weekend outing in the City.
