Prevent Post-Party Symptoms With These Tips
You definitely do not have to be Irish to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Scores of lucky leprechauns will down pint after pint of green Guinness (or other beverage of choice) on this magical day. But, what to do on March 18 when the party is over? Here are some tips for preventing, or at least, coping with your post-party pains.
- Hydration – Drink water the day of and in between alcoholic drinks (if you can remember). The day after is all about fluid intake (non-alcohol) both water and electrolytes like coconut water or Gatorade.
- Grease – Consider this the ideal pre-drinking fuel of choice. A big greasy hamburger and fries or pizza is just the perfect thing to slow the absorption, and thus the effects, of alcohol.
- Choose Wisely – Stick to one type of alcohol and better to avoid carbonated drinks as this can speed up the absorption of alcohol.
- Ginger – Settle that tummy the day after with ginger tea.
- Carbs – Consider dry toast or crackers the morning after to absorb excess alcohol plus it will give you a quick energy boost from the simple sugars (helps combat that post-party irritability).
- Coffee- It’s not a wives’ tale – caffeine combats the chemicals in alcohol that cause headaches and it also gives you an energy boost.
- Sleep It Off- If you have this luxury available to you it is probably the best option.
And of course, there is always Tip #:
- Abstinence, but who are we kidding…
