Is it time for you to go back to school and learn something new? Local Community Schools offer resources from local professionals in a manner that helps people raise the quality of life or just learn a new hobby. Many classes are offered for the home.
INTERIOR DESIGN This class is a hands-on approach to interior design. Each student of the class will be asked to choose a room in their home that they would like to re-design. The class will treat each student as a client and will help them re-do their room. Topics will include each room’s function, floor plans, furniture selection, fabrics, window treatments, floors, walls and more. INTERIOR DESIGN FOR THIS TURBULENT ECONOMY This one night class will explore valuable strategies for avoiding costly mistakes in your design choices and decisions. Maybe this is exactly the right time to make an investment in your home. Things of quality have no fear of time. Barbara Heilmann, state certified interior designer will give practical advice on designing your space the way a professional would. If you are embarking on a design project and asking yourself questions like, “Where do I begin?” you will find this to be an enjoyable and informative evening from the Glen Rock Community School. SO YOU WANT A NEW KITCHEN? If you are seriously planning to remodel your kitchen, this course will arm you with the information needed to competently approach a sometimes-confusing subject. The instructor will share her knowledge of budget, design, appliances, countertops, cabinets, lighting, floors, and more. Instructor: Nancy Stern. Attend this class and learn about current pricing guidelines, critical maintenance issues and proven home staging theory and techniques. Topics include what repairs must be addressed prior to coming on the market, understanding what home staging is, de-personalizing, showing off your home’s space and architectural buying features, and much more. BASIC HOME REPAIR This home repair course is for anyone who wants to learn the basics of home repair. It is especially designed for the person who knows very little about home maintenance and repair but is not timid or afraid to try. Each student will perform all repairs and replacements hands-on, using materials and tools supplied by the instructor. Time will be reserved near the end of each class for specific student problems and questions. Topics will include: basic tools and proper use, electrical, plumbing, inside repairs and outside repairs. Class size is limited to 6 students. BUYING A DISTRESSED PROPERTY Want to take advantage of some of the best bargains in the real estate market today? Learn about the different types of distressed properties – foreclosures, bank-owned, short sales and sheriff sales- and the similarities and differences in buying one. You will learn about locating the properties, investigating the properties, and purchasing the properties. The course will also briefly cover the home financing process. One Session $30.
