Why This Town is Putting Up Christmas Lights.
I almost put my Chirstmas tree up the other day. I know. That sounds like a crazy thing to do at the end of March, but I love Christmas time and thought it would bring a little unexpected joy to our week. Then my sister shared a fun idea with me. Back in Ohio, where I am from, folks are putting up Christmas lights as a way to brighten this sobering situation we are all in and instill a feeling of connectedness. I love this idea. It reminds you that even when you aren’t seeing your neighbors, they are inside! (You can check out the article here)
The director of the community-centered nonprofit who started the idea ecxplained, “Light the Night represents a simple way for community members to demonstrate that we are in this together. Now’s a great time for us to put these porches to good use to offer fellow community members a sign of hope during challenging times.”
So, if you’re so inclined, get outside today and hang up some lights! Or maybe even put up your Christmas tree!
