10 Reasons Your Elf Didn’t Move Last Night

Very rarely, ok … sometimes, ok … more often as they have gotten older, the elves forget to move. Well, I’m sure they don’t forget, I’m sure they have a really good, jolly elf excuse. They only talk to Santa or to other elves, so I can only guess at what might have happened. It is often an early morning, pre-coffee conversation with my kids, so I find it helps to think about it in advance, you know, just in case the elves aren’t on the ball.
- Someone was up really late the night before and they need a good 8 hour window of time to get to the North Pole and back.
- The news was reporting high winds to the north of us. It would’ve simply been too dangerous.
- They were really, really comfortable where they were and wanted to enjoy one more day there.
- We weren’t around them much the day before, so there was simply not a lot to report.
- I wonder if I accidentally touched them when I was cleaning! I’m so sorry.
- I woke up in the middle of the night, thought I heard something and went downstairs. Could that have been the elves, and I scared them back into place? Oh boy, I hope not!
- They kind of look like they are in a different position to me. Maybe they left and came back to the same place.
- It is really cold outside. Maybe they just wanted to stay nice and warm for one night.
- Possibly they are exhausted from all the Christmas prep, fell asleep where they landed and didn’t get up in time to fly home.
- I don’t know! Why are you asking me? I’m not an elf. I’m sure they have a very good reason.
The one good thing about Thanksgiving being so close to Christmas this year is the elves have to make the back and forth journey fewer times. That means fewer opportunities to screw up!
