Cleveland Named One of the Best Cities in the Country for First-Time Homeowners
I always feel like Cleveland gets a bad rap. People outside of this city that we love don’t know what they’re missing. Besides the abundance of fabulous restaurants, beautiful parks and culture, here’s ANOTHER reason to feel good about living in the Cle. New York Times called Cleveland one of the best cities for first-time buyers; we tied for first place with Pittsburgh. (But we knew that, right?) To make their selections, the NYTimes looked at the average down payment made by buyers, and its percentage of the sale price. They also considered each area’s Housing Opportunity Index score which measures the availability of homes affordable to middle-income families.On average, Clevelanders put down 15% on first home ($32,775.) Compare that to San Francisco where the average down payment is $128,627 or Los Angeles where the average is
