Calling All Art Students: Portfolio in a Pinch with a Pro.
For students looking to create a strong portfolio for either a college or academic program, Visual Arts Center is offering a 10-week session beginning January 9 to boost their portfolios. Each week students will create a work of art in a variety of media such as charcoal, pencil, watercolor, acrylics, and even sculpture. By the end of the semester students will have 7-10 pieces that they can use toward their portfolio, along with the knowledge of how to photograph and present their work in a cohesive way, All materials provided.
The class is taught by local artist, Andrea Gianchiglia. Gianchiglia graduated from the Hartford Art School receiving a BFA in illustration with a minor in art history. Andrea works as a full time artist with private commissions and freelance illustration, as well as an art instructor at various art facilities throughout New Jersey. She is represented at Studio 7 Fine Art Gallery and has had both individual and group shows throughout New Jersey and the tri-state area. She has won several awards for her specialty, animal portraiture at various national juried shows and is a member of the Society of Animal Artists, the Pastel Society of America, the Salmagundi Club, and the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club. She was also recently flown out to Denver to film her online class “The Art of Painting Horses” at Craftsy.com studios.
