Tips for Unlocking Your Child’s Potential

December 12, 2018  • Daytime •  Presentations at each middle school for students

December 12, 2018  •  7pm-9pm •  Education Center, 49 Cottage Place, 3rd Floor

In every classroom there is a kid being told, “You just have to try harder.”  That young person might be struggling with learning and attention issues. They end up feeling misunderstood, isolated, and full of self-doubt. One in five students learn differently due to learning and attention issues. Eye to Eye Diplomats has made it their mission to find the kid in the corner and give them a chance to succeed and self-advocate. On December 12, Eye to Eye Diplomats will be visiting Ridgewood Public Schools to teach students these techniques to self-advocate and feel empowered. The presentations are aimed at helping students reach their full potential and to believe in their abilities.

In the evening, Eye to Eye will give a presentation to parents to coach them on how they can inspire and help further their children’s potential.

Eye to Eye is a nonprofit organization that is run by and for people with learning and attention issues. The group started in 1998 when a group of college students with learning and attention issues from Brown University sat down with similarly-labeled elementary school students from Fox Point Elementary in Providence, RI. The Brown students called themselves Project Eye-to-Eye, the name for their public service project. The program had one simple goal: give these younger students hope.

These presentations are part of Ridgewood Public School’s Special Programs Community Outreach Programs.
