During the first few weeks of summer, having no schedule is bliss! Then right about the end of July, my kids start to get tired of the pool, tired of friends and begin complaining about boredom. Unfortunately, many summer camps end right at the same time. So thank god for VACNJ (Visual Art Center of NJ); they are here to rescue you and give you some much needed time to yourself while your kids explore the world of art and come home tired and inspired.

Their camps run weekly
through August 31 for ages K to 5th grade. Kids will have a chance to explore painting, drawing, sculpture, and ceramics with their best teaching artists during a fun-filled week of art. Groups are divided into grades K-1, 2-3, and 4-5.
Although the camps run from 9:45am to 3:15pm, they do offer an extended day. Campers can come as early as 8am and stay until 5:30pm. You can even choose to extend just for a single day for $25.
Here’s what they offer:
Former Art Director for Home Magazine, Heather Leahy Zachariah, left her career in publishing after baby number number one. She now works from home as a freelance graphic designer and a chauffeur to her 3 busy kids. "Working on TipsFromTown has been a wonderful outlet for me. It renewed my love of publishing where I can design colorful, enticing pages online and allows me to share the things I love about being a mom." Heather grew up in Shaker Heights, Ohio, a place that still is near and dear to her. " After living in Brooklyn for 18 years and studying Graphic Design at Pratt Institute, she now lives in the Jersey burbs. "I love living so close to NYC, but in my heart, I'm an Ohio girl."
