The Danger in your Medicine Cabinet
Overdoses from prescription opioids are a driving factor in the steep increase of opioid overdose deaths. Millions are addicted and 91 Americans die every day from an opioid overdose. Opiod addiction is one of the biggest issues confronting America today – and so often it starts right in your own medicine cabinet.
If you are a parent of a teenager, you must attend “Danger in Your Medicine Cabinet: What Every Parent Needs to Know” Wednesday, March 15 at 7:00PM at New Providence High School. This event is the 4th program of the Parent Wellness Series offered as part of the Consortium of Superintendents and Student Assistance Counselors from Summit, Berkeley Heights, Millburn, New Providence and Chatham High Schools.
The program will include a screening of excerpts from the documentary, Chasing the Dragon followed by a presentation of the video Moms Know Best: A Crucial Message for Parents.
A panel discussion with experts in the field of addiction will follow the video. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions about what to look for with respect to their children, as well as the dangers surrounding current drug trends with a specific focus on prescription medications and heroin.
