Swing Into Spring

Tennis falls nicely into the rare “lifetime sport” category so it’s never too early to get started if your children have an interest. It’s also a great family outing option. I have a number of friends who just love to hit the courts with their kids be it in town or on vacation. This spring, these spots are offering lessons:

Ridgewood Racquet Club – 249 Ackerman Avenue in Ridgewood; 201-652-1991. Ridgewood Racquet’s spring clinics for kids have begun. They welcome calls to check on availability or to schedule private or semi-private lessons.

Ridgewood Parks and Recreation – In connection with All Pro Tennis, Ridgewood Parks and Rec offers one-hour tennis programs for children from K through 6th grade and up beginning March 29 or 30 at the Bellair tennis courts. Times vary for age group. The fee for each 5-week session is $95. For more information, please call Barry Ruback at 201-568-3946 or visit www.ridgewoodnj.net/recreation.

Upper Ridgewood Tennis Club – 915 Glenview Road in Ridgewood; 201-447-1503. Rick Bograd’s 2012 Spring Clinic starts on April 23 and runs through June 7. Programs available for children ages 4 and up. Their spring brochure has all the details or you can email rbograd@upperridgewoodtennis.com.

Waldwick Covered Courts – 155 Hopper Avenue in Waldwick; 201-444-3322. Their spring clinics for children have begun. They welcome calls to discuss availability or to schedule private or semi-private lessons.
