Summer Music Academy Ridgewood

Summer 2012 Summer Music Academy provides a creative and supportive environment for young adults to grow as musicians and people.  Providing exciting performing opportunities and lesson groups for young musicians, Tuesday, June 26 through Friday, July 27.

GROUP LESSONS 30-minute sessions

Small group lessons are offered for the beginning, intermediate or advanced player (in grades 4-12) on any standard band or orchestra instrument. Lessons provide the opportunity to improve technique and overall musicianship.

BEGINNERS An excellent beginners program starts at “opening the case” and takes students through most of their first year of study…in just 5 weeks!!

INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED Lessons will be scheduled on a “skill level” appropriate basis. Most Int/Adv lessons will begin at 9 am, 10:30 am, 11 am or 11:30 am.

GROUP SUZUKI VIOLIN LESSONS 40-minute sessions

Parent attendance is required. Beginning students need to rent a violin and purchase Suzuki Book I and accompanying CD. You must call the instructor, Mrs. Butler at (201) 652-1192 before registering.

Grades K-4 Rm 104

MUSIC THEORY CLASS (COMPOSITION) 30-minute sessions

An introductory/intermediate level study of basic musical principles. Topics to include: notation, intervals, scales, keys, chords, form, etc. (Students interested in Level II must have completed Level I or will be tested.)

DRUM SET CLASS LEVELS I & II 30-minute sessions

Are you a student who has studied music for at least 2 years? If so, you are welcome to enroll in Drum Set I! Just bring a pair of sticks and come explore the world of “set”.

Drum Set II is an intermediate level class. To enroll, students must have taken private drum set lessons, or completed the Drum Set I class. Drum Set I 10:30 am or 11:00 am, Rm 101 Drum Set II 11:30 am, Rm 101.

PERFORMING GROUPS 45-minute sessions

Performing Groups are offered in an enjoyable, stimulating, non-competitive setting with the purpose of developing listening and ensemble skills, and self-esteem. For grades 4-12.
