Summer Fun Day: Pier Village, Long Branch
One of my dearest friends now lives in Texas. She still misses New Jersey and tries to make a trip to the East coast once a year. When she visits Jersey my friends and I try to coordinate day trips here and there. One of our favorite things to do is head south to spend a day near the ocean. We have fond memories of fun times at the Jersey Shore and just the drive itself is reminiscent for us.
We found that Pier Village in Long Branch is the perfect option for a midweek day trip. Nothing beats a seafood lunch paired with ocean breezes and spectacular views. And we found just that at McLoone’s Pier House. Located on the ocean, McLoones has both indoor and outdoor seating. Their menu has something for everyone: fresh raw bar, salads, sushi, sandwiches……..and refreshing summer cocktails!
After lunch, we walk directly across the street for some retail therapy at the “Shops at Pier Village”. You’ll find a nice variety of shops for browsing for everything from beachwear at Jenna & Molly’s or Nirvana to chocolate covered apple at Rocky Mountain. Then we hit the boards for a walk along the beach boardwalk while enjoying the sound of the surf. Always stopping to take photos along the way!
When we make our way back it’s one final stop for coffee at Pier Village. Our coffee-sipping ride home might include a few more drive-bys of past summer rentals and favorite old hangouts. And a chance to reminisce just a little bit more. Best Summer ladies day out that this group of jersey girls can ask for.
Without traffic, Pier Village is approximately 1 hour from my town of Chatham, making it the perfect distance for a day trip. Parking is available.
