Recycling, Christmas tree Pickup and more…Information Hilltoppers need to know!

The City of Summit has posted important information all Summit residents need to know – revised City office hours, Christmas tree pickup dates, garbage and recylcing schedules and more!

Here it is in a nutshell:

Office Closures and Delayed Openings:
City offices will open at 10:30AM on Thursday, December 17 following the annual holiday staff breakfast meeting.

Offices will be closed for the day on Friday, December 25 in observance of the Christmas holiday and on New Year’s Day Friday, January 1.

The Parking Services agency will be closing at 12PM on Friday, December 18 for its annual meeting and will reopen at 8:30AM on Monday, December 21.

Parking Holidays:
Friday, December 25 is a parking holiday in Summit with no fees in any parking garages, lots, or at street meters.

Important Curbside Recycling Updates:
Curbside recycling will be collected on Wednesday, December 23 instead of Thursday, December 24. Residents are asked to please place recyclable items at the curb the night before or by 6AM on Wednesday.

Household garbage is collected on all major holidays, if the holiday falls on a regular pickup day.

Curbside pickup of leaves for the fall season has concluded. Residents may deposit leaves in brown compostable bags at the Transfer Station at any time during the calendar year.

Curbside pickup of Christmas trees will begin on Monday, December 28 and will continue through Friday, January 29. Please remove all decorations and do not place in a plastic bag at the curb.

The next Dial-a-Truck curbside bulky item pickup is scheduled for Thursday, January 7. Please call 908-273-6404 to schedule a pickup. There are limited spaces available.

Transfer Station Holiday Schedule:
The City of Summit Transfer Station will be operating on a regular schedule on Thursday, December 24 and will be open from 7:30AM to 3:45PM. It will be closed on Friday, December 25 for the Christmas holiday, reopening on Saturday, December 26 from 7:30AM to 4:45PM.

The Transfer Station will be operating on a regular schedule on Thursday, December 31 and will be open from 7:30AM to 3:45PM. It will be closed on Friday, January 1 for the New Year holiday, reopening on Saturday, January 2 from 7:30AM to 4:45PM.
