Parenting Lessons from Paris

Anyone having trouble getting their children to happily eat a healthy meal of fish and veggies? Perhaps that’s a rhetorical question for most of us and the French may have the answer to our problem. In a recent article, Pamela Druckerman discusses her own hard-fought battles in parenting, particularly dining out with her kids while living in France. After quickly noticing that the young French children at nearby tables were sitting patiently and happily eating – you guessed it – their fish and veggies, Druckerman went in search of parenting secrets in France. A few of those include, “don’t be afraid to say no…kids have to learn to cope with frustration” and “allow only one snack a day, typically around 4 p.m. in France.” Hmm…think that snack rule would immediately lead to my downfall.
