Manis, Pedis And Chit-Chat
So, I’ll be the first to admit that I am creating a monster in my 8 year old daughter. I know this, yet, I still can’t stop. She’s like a mini-me with lighter hair, and I just can’t get enough of the excited look on her face when she picks out a new pair of shoes… it’s like looking in a mirror. In an attempt to try to try to ‘limit’ my shopping habit, I’ve banned myself from going into stores. Let’s face it, it is the only way I won’t buy something. So, on the last rainy summer day, my daughter and I went to get manicures and pedicures. Over the next hour or so, I couldn’t believe how much we talked and how many topics we covered. She talked about everything from her new favorite summer songs, to how I will never understand what it’s like to be an 8 year old girl with an older brother (Umm… “Yes, I do, what about Uncle Brian?”) It was amazing to me how in one second of our conversation I felt like I was talking to a 30 year old, and then, she she would say something that made me realize how young and innocent she still is. It was a day I’ll never forget, and I got out of the salon spending a hell of a lot less then one of our ‘mother/daughter’ shopping sprees. As we were walking out she said to me, “Mom… Can we go have lunch at Neiman Marcus… It’s my favorite.”– I’m so proud 😉
