Locally-Sourced, Preservative-Free, All-Natural Treats!

We made a recent discovery that is going to make NJ dog owners happy–especially those with a passion for clean eating and living. Most of our readers are passionate about eating well so why not hold your pet food to that same standard? Dog Jerky Co. based right here in New Jersey is changing the way we treat our pets. We spoke with owner Kelly Killion to get the scoop on her organic doggy treats.

Heather: First, I have to ask. What’s your dogs’ name?

Kelly: I have two pups! Their names are Wylie (9yrs) and Dublin (3) and they are the best!

Heather: What inspired you to start your company?

Kelly: The inspiration behind Dog Jerky Co. came from shopping at local stores searching for dog treats that were all-natural and made in the USA. I was surprised that I couldn’t find one Jerky treat that contain some kind of preservative or additive in it. And most, if not all, were made in China or other countries. So I did a lot of research and was really disturbed by the lack of regulation that exists in manufacturing dog food and treats. Some of the ingredients were astonishing to me. I thought to myself, I need to do something about this and provide fellow dog owners with truly all-natural treats for their dogs.

Heather: What makes your products different?

Kelly: With our treats, you get what you see and nothing else! We have some products that are unique like our Trio Sticks (beef, chicken, & pork braided into a stick) or our beef-wrapped apples (slices of apple wrapped with a slice of London broil).

Plus we source our ingredients locally ingredients and make our products right here in NJ. They contain no preservatives, additives, fillers or chemicals. They are GMO-, grain-, rice-, and dairy-FREE. For these reasons, they are also great for dogs with different food allergies.

Heather: What about for our readers who might be vegan?

Kelly: If a customer is vegan, we can custom-make treats out of any of our fruit variations; we just make them without the meat wrap.

Heather: Going forward, do you see your company expanding in any way? I have 2 cute little kitties that would love organic kitty treats!

Kelly: We have a couple new treats coming out in the next couple of weeks so be sure to follow us on social media for updates and specials. We are also in works to start our kitty line of Jerky treats. They will include chicken, salmon, and some other types of meat that cats like. My cat, Lola, loves the chicken Jerky! Every time I bring it out she comes running.
