Kitchen Trend: Casual and Modular

The Diesel Social Kitchen by Scavolini was presented at Milan’s Furniture Show last week.  The project’s strength was not about style, but how entertaining guests will not be confined to the living room anymore. A room that combines the kitchen, dining, and living room. It is a modular kitchen concept designed to expand the kitchen into a fully social space with a “lived-in” feel.

The project defines “premium casual living,” bringing the party back to the heart of the home – the kitchen – with a range of furniture, appliances and details. They have developed different materials, new, yet “lived-in”, with shades of colour and hues never before used, and all this with the experience, technology and know-how of the wonderful brand that is Scavolini. The colour palette is made up of classic greens, natural woods and gunmetal grey, with pops of yellow used on trolleys, tables and freestanding storage units.

A modular kitchen is a kitchen made of modules. This restaurant in Copenhagen kept with strict rules of its historic building: no glue, nails or shelving could be attached to the walls, resulting in a series of modular units. For more pics check out the Homebuildlife blog.
