Keeping Your Sanity During the Holidays
Creating holiday joy. Creating holiday stress. As much as we try to avoid it, the two often go hand-in-hand! Here are six tips on keeping your sanity during Thanksgiving from Sorting Out Your Life by Jenise Harmon, MSW, LISW:
1. Don’t overplan
2. Realize you can’t please everyone
3. Make a budget and stick with it, whether it’s hostess gifts or holiday presents
4. Think about what feelings you want to experience during the holidays and channel your inner peace and happiness
5. Be aware of your anxiety and stress level (see above on channeling your own Zen)
6. Plan an escape route, i.e., it’s okay to leave a bit earlier (unless it’s your own home of course!)
