Healthier Eating in a Snap

Carrots and peas? Sure Mom. Broccoli? Pile it on please! Wouldn’t that be a nice dinner conversation? No problem says Stacey Antine, M.S., R.D., founder of Healthbarn USA. Antine recently penned a new book – Appetite for Life: The Thumbs-Up, No-Yucks Guide to Getting Your Kid to be a Great Eater – that gives parents all the info they need to set their kids on a healthier track. It also includes over 100 kid-tested, kid-approved recipes.

One tip from Antine is to guide kids to read ingredients on packaged products to determine if the food contains natural or artificial ingredients. This step will help kids in picking healthier choices on their own. Another suggestion is to make preparing healthy snacks and meals a shared, enjoyable activity for the whole family. When kids are a part of the process, they are very often proud to both share and eat their creations.

Founded in 2005, Healthbarn USA believes that kids will eat healthier when given the opportunity and knowledge to do so. Through a wide range of programs for both kids and families, Antine and her team have empowered thousands of children to live strong, energetic lives. Appetite for Life is now available on Amazon for $17.
