Fresh Guacamole Recipe
Guacamole Recipe
Now that I make homemade guacamole, I can no longer bring myself to eat a store bought version. Besides, there is no reason to with a simple, fresh, and tasty 7-ingredient recipe like this. Only tweak I make is to add more cilantro. Some people have an aversion to cilantro, but I can never get enough. This is Tyler Florence’s recipe and I first tried it years ago. I’ve since prepared it for family, taken it to parties and work events. And someone always asks for the recipe. Love to serve it with “Garden of Eatin” unsalted blue tortilla chips. By the way, this recipe makes quite a bit of guacamole, and I have sometimes halved the recipe when preparing for a smaller group. Happy Cinco de Mayo
Guacamole recipe by Tyler Florence
4 ripe avocadoes
2 limes, juiced
1/2 medium red onion, finely chopped
1 big handful fresh cilantro leaves, finely chopped (I used a few big handfuls!)
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
Halve and pit the avocados, with a spoon scoop out the flesh into a bowl. Mash the avocados with a fork, leaving them a bit chunky. Add the remaining ingredients, and fold everything gently together to mix. Taste and adjust seasoning.
Lay a piece of plastic wrap right on the surface of the guacamole so it doesn’t brown and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
