Do You Have Your Red Nose Ready?
Get Ready for Red Nose Day: Thursday, May 26, 2016.
The Red Nose Day Fund is on a mission to help kids who need us most. Red Nose Day is a fundraising campaign run by the non-profit organization Comic Relief Inc. Red Nose Day has raised over $1 billion globally in the last 25 years. Half of the money will be spent in the U.S. The other half will be spent in some of the poorest communities in Latin America, Asia, and Africa. All money raised supports projects that ensure kids are safe, healthy, and educated. In 2015, Red Nose Day raised $23 million.
Created by writer-director Richard Curtis in 1988 (Love Actually, Four Weddings and a Funeral, About Time), the idea of was built upon the foundation that comedy, celebrities and mass media, can help raise money and awareness of poverty to save and change millions of lives.
A few examples of what Red Nose Day funds: Food Banks in the 50 States; preventative disease-fighting drugs for children and pregnant women; clean water and vaccines for families in Africa.
Need a red nose for the day? Red noses are available at Walgreens and Duane Reade stores nationally.
