Concussion Awareness Event on June 11
Increasingly, youth athletes are sidelined due to concussions, but contrary to popular belief, it’s not just on the football field or in the hockey arena. Girls soccer ranks right up there too, according to the American Journal of Sports Medicine. With all this in mind, the Ridgewood High School (RHS) Sports Medicine Department has taken action and created a “Concussion Awareness” video as part of a $15,000 grant from Seton Hall University. Parents, youth athletes and coaches are invited to attend a presentation of this informational video on Monday, June 11, at 7:30 p.m. at the Ridgewood High School (RHS) Campus Center.
Attendees will be asked to fill out a brief survey, and educational material will be distributed at the event. RHS is located at 627 E. Ridgewood Avenue in Ridgewood. For more info, please contact Nick Nicholaides, the RHS athletic trainer, at nnicholaides@ridgewood.k12.nj.us.
