A Lantern Lit Tour Through Town

Lantern Tours Returns!

Friday, December 2 •  6pm and 8pm

Join us for Lantern Tours!

On this special evening, the historic buildings at the corners of Broad Street and Sycamore Avenue will be open to welcome the public. Tours begin at Christ Church at 6:00pm and 8:00pm and are by reservation only. Children (12 and under) $8. Adults $20. Reservations are required. Space is limited.

The tours will include four historic properties: Monmouth County Historical Association’s Allen House c. 1710; the Presbyterian Church, c.1735; Christ Church c.1769; and Shrewsbury Friends Meeting House c. 1816.

At Allen House, which served the community as a tavern in the mid-18th century, visitors will be greeted by the tavern keeper and his family who will illustrate tavern life through dramatic first-person storytelling. Live instrumental music and singing will be followed by cookies and cider, and general merriment.

Please call Elaine at Christ Church at 732-742-1227 to reserve a place on the tour.

She now works from home as a freelance graphic designer and a chauffeur to her 3 busy kids. "Working on TipsFromTown has been a wonderful outlet for me. It renewed my love of publishing where I can design colorful, enticing pages online and allows me to share the things I love about being a mom." Heather grew up in Shaker Heights, Ohio, a place that still is near and dear to her. " After living in Brooklyn for 18 years and studying Graphic Design at Pratt Institute, she now lives in the Jersey burbs. "I love living so close to NYC, but in my heart, I'm an Ohio girl."
