Shopping for the Perfect Eco-Friendly Coffeemaker

After my last coffee maker died just a month after the warranty expired, a relatively expensive Cuisinart, I did some research. I’m the only one in my family that drinks–and needs–coffee so the Keurig would be an obvious choice. I like good, strong, fresh coffee and every time I’d tried coffee from a Keurig it never hit the spot. It tasted weak.  I found out that you can adjust the strength of each cup.

But 4 things still bothered me about the Kuerig:
1. All those little plastic cups that would litter the planet. Would I really take the time to separate the foil, paper and grinds and clean each one out for recycling?
2. I like freshly ground beans!
3. The Keurig was an expensive investment–over $100 plus buying all the K cups.
4. And what if I want to make a pot of coffee?

Then, I found the Keurig 575 Platinum. All my concerns were answered. You can buy a reusable K Cup filter. This answered 3 of my 4 concerns. It meant I didn’t have to worry about all this little plastic cups AND I could grind my own beans for my coffee. I didn’t have to use the ready-made K cups. As for my third concern, you CAN make a pot; you can purchase a pot for this model.

I have to admit, it’s really nice for entertaining. I keep a bowl filled with a variety of coffee flavors and strengths for guests. With this model you can even make hot water for tea or a cup of cocoa. And the reusable filter is super-easy to use The model is available on Amazon for $170. I might be in love with this machine.
