“Click it or Ticket It” in NJ for Dogs and Cats

No more joy riding in NJ for our furry friends. Under a first-of-its-kind law known as “Pet Buckle Up,” drivers in NJ now face a fine of up to $1000 and possible jail time if a dog or cat is not properly secured with a harness or travel carrier while travelling in a car. “What people come to realize only too late is that animals act like flying missiles in an impact and can not only hurt themselves but hurt their human family members too,” said Col. Frank Rizzo of the NJ Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Unrestrained animals in a car are also a common cause of distracted driving. Read more on the topic in the press release from the NJ Motor Vehicle Commission.

Wholistic Paws at 215 Chestnut Street in Ridgewood has harnesses and travel cases. Their phone number is 201-444-9911.
