10+ Winter Recreation Classes for $120 and Under!

Registration is currently under way for the winter enrichment programs offered by the Ridgewood Recreation Division at the Stable, 259 N. Maple Avenue. Below is a list of class offerings for January and February:

Winter Ridgewood Rec ClassesCreative Cooking with Education Explorers Junior chefs learn the basics of cooking in this resourceful class; how to follow a recipe, mix, measure, and decorate with a variety of techniques and tools.  Grades K-4.  Mondays after school at the Stable, 259 N. Maple Avenue, beginning January 11.  $120/6 classes, includes all materials.

My First Art with Abrakadoodle – caregivers join as little ones enjoy “firsts” – touching, feeling, hearing, seeing, and thinking while painting, drawing, sculpting, enjoying storybooks, art games and music.  Ages 20-42 months.  Tuesday mornings at the Stable, 259 N. Maple Avenue, beginning January 12th.  $110/6 classes, includes all materials.

Mini Doodler with Abrakadoodle –  a fun journey with new lessons that inspire creativity to help little ones foster a love of art.  Ages 3-5.  Wednesday afternoons at the Stable, 259 N. Maple Avenue, beginning January 13th.  $110/6 classes, includes all materials. Dress for mess!

Yoga Dance– Dance Instructor Ginger Brown Monplaisir, MA will share a combination of thematic movement exploration and yoga postures, all valuable for health and relaxation. Ages 3-5. Thursday mornings at the Stable, 259 N. Maple Avenue, beginning January 14th. $50. Formal dance attire is NOT required.

Garden Arts for Kids – a magical mixture of nature and eco-art with lessons on animals, gardening and recycling.  Projects include Teddy Bear Picnic Gardens, Valentine Vases, Silly Seedlings, Love Bug Geodes and Fossil Stones. Ages 4-7.  Monday afternoons at the Stable, 259 N. Maple Avenue, beginning January 11.  $110/6 classes, all materials provided.

Winter Ridgewood Rec ClassesDrawing and/or Acrylics with Mrs. C – both offer art instruction to meet personal goals and approaches at individual levels.  Grades 2-6.  Acrylics is offered on Tuesdays after school and Drawing on Wednesdays after school.  Both are located at the Stable, 259 N. Maple Avenue.  Acrylics – $65/6 classes begins January 12th, Drawing – $65/6 classes, begins January 13th.  Students are to bring materials.

Super Scientists with Explore Science – Enjoy challenges in ALL realms of science with hands-on experiments and creations.  Projects/experiments have participants creating their own magnetic slime, their own flashlight, working with color chemistry, making their own whistle and a fun airplane competition with their own airplane creation.  Grades K-5.  Tuesdays after school at the Stable, beginning January 12th.  $120/6 classes, includes all materials.

Explore Space Session II with Education Explorers – All new projects! In this hands-on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) based program, children will explore outer space, participating in space and astronomy experiments and projects. While exploring this area of scientific discovery they will create rockets, nano-rovers, satellites and more. Grades K-4.  Wednesdays after school at the Stable, 259 N. Maple Avenue, January 13th. $120/6 classes, includes all materials.

W.O.W. ART (Wonders of Winter) with Abrakadoodle – Participants in this new art series will learn to draw and paint snowy landscapes, winter silhouettes, snow birds and owls; all while learning about cool artists and using creative art tools.  Grades K-3.  Thursdays after school at the Stable, 259 N. Maple Avenue, beginning January 14th.  $120/6 classes, includes all materials.

Secrets of Magic with Joe Fischer –  Participants will learn behind the scene secrets of magic tricks with take homes weekly. See how much fun this life-long hobby can be!  Grades K-5.  Thursdays after school at the Stable, 259 N. Maple Avenue, beginning January 14th.  $110/6 classes, includes all materials.  Be sure to enjoy Joe Fischer’s magic show at the Community Center, December 28th, 11:30 a.m. $5 admission (purchase tickets in advance at www.ridgewoodnj.net/communitypass).

Watercolors with Maryann Burton – Beginner and intermediate instruction for adults on Wednesday mornings at the Stable, 259 N. Maple Avenue, beginning January 13th.  $95/6 classes.  Students must bring own materials.

Acrylics with Sandi Chanoch – Individual and personalized attention helps all find their personal techniques.  Tuesday afternoons at the Stable, 259 N. Maple Avenue, beginning January 12th.  Students must bring own materials.  $80/6 classes.

Annie’s Artisanal Cookery – Sneaky Chefs –  Learn how to get your family to eat healthy without them realizing it . . . take several classic dishes and put a healthier spin on them. Friday afternoons at the Stable, 259 N. Maple Avenue, beginning January 22nd.  $100/5 sessions, all ingredients provided.
